The Lacrosse Blog has been one of the top sources for the Rochester MLL franchise updates. It will indeed be the Rochester Rattlers, with commissioner Dave Gross saying Rob Clark of the Rochester Rhinos soccer team wil own them.

The Potential of a Rochester MLL team

We have heard rumors all summer of the MLL returning to Rochester. Well, recently more details have emerged with this potential idea. In an article at Inside Lacrosse.com, it says soccer club Rochester Rhinos owner Rob Clark wants to bring the MLL back to Rochester. Here is the exact quote:

"Rhinos owner Rob Clark, 37, who acquired the team in early 2008 after owners Donner, Frank DuRoss and Chris Economides defaulted on a $10.8 million loan, says he may bring the MLL back next year. The team would play about 10 games at Marina Auto Stadium, something city officials and the Rhinos, who run the city-owned facility, want.

More events would help the Rhinos attract corporate sponsors. The soccer team would run the lacrosse club, just as the sports group did the Rattlers, who Clark says "were never marketed here at all."

The NLL team Rochester Knighthawks have always drawn very well, proving that lacrosse can market itself in Rochester. So will we see an MLL team in Rochester? Signs are pointing to yes.
