Last night was the 2011 NLL Draft in Toronto, Ontario. With the Rochester Knighthawks holding the first pick, here is how the draft went.
#1- Kinghthawks- Cody Jaimeson
I don't think many people were surprised by this pick. For more info on Jaimeson, read this.
#2- Blazers- Kyle Rubisch
A defender, and the best one in the draft. No surprise the Blazers drafted him, they need someone to replace Paul Dawson.
#3- Roughnecks- Curtis Dickson
Again, not a real surprise. For more on Dickson, read this.
#4- Swarm- Andrew Suiter
Suiter, a smiler player to Rory Smith, will fit right in Minnesota's defensive plans.
#5- Knighthawks- Jarret Davis
Davis ripped up the WLA, and is a pro-ready offensive player who should fit right in with Rochester.
#6- Roughnecks- Dan McRae
A defender who improved his stock in the MSL this summer, he may be the best all around defensman in the draft someday.
#7- Blazers- David Brock
A two-way player, big time goal scorer.
#8- Roughnecks- Brian Ivey
Kind of a surprising first round pick here, Ivey may have impressed the 'Necks at the Minto Cup.
#9- Bandits- Travis Irving
Perfect Buffalo type of player, a big strong defender.
#10- Knighthawks- Ryan McLelland
Has played in almost every other pro lacrosse league, but I don't know where he fits in the K'Hawks plans.

NLL Deals
Some trades in the NLL the last few days will be recapped.
The Minnesota Swarm traded Kevin Buchanan to the Boston Blazers for Mat Giles. Giles was acquired from Philadelphia in the middle of last season to sure up the power play. Buchanan on the other hand was the first round pick for Minnesota in the 2008 draft and led rookies in scoring in 2009 and made the all NLL-rookie team. Buchanan will fit in with the Blazers, he is also a player on the Boston Cannons.
Meanwhile the Rock and restricted free agent drama continues with them claiming Kyle Ross from the Roughnecks. Ross was in the deal that sent Josh Sanderson to Boston and Calgary is on the clock to match the deal. This is the third time the Rock have claimed a RFA free agent, the first two being Paul Dawson and John Orsen.
The Buffalo Bandits have acquired Scott Self and Jay Thorimbert fro the Minnesota Swarm for their second round pick and a first rounder in 2012.
Also a notice: The NLL Entry Draft is September 8th in Toronto. It will be broad casted at NLL Network at NLL.com, but stay at The Lacrosse Blog as we will Live Blog the draft here. There will be an open thread, so feel free to join.
